What is our motivation for wanting to help others?
Often we feel helpless when confronted by the enormity of the suffering experienced by those around us.
On a daily basis we witness poverty, disasters, people dying from terrible diseases and encounter victims of terrible abuse. By learning how to develop a good heart and a compassionate motivation we can grow to understand the many ways in which we can help all living beings without feeling guilty because we currently experience a comfortable life and good things.
Sunday 4th July
Mindfulness – be in your present moment
with Colinda Linde
9:00am - 11:00am
Start to use everyday mindfulness to make your life more enjoyable. When our mind is free from the turbulence of distractions it becomes calm and smooth.Concentration gives us the freedom to accomplish whatever we wish for. Without concentration our mind has no freedom but is forced to go wherever it is led by our desires and aversions. When we are enjoying internal peace and happiness our craving for external sources of pleasure naturally declines and it is easy to remain content.
Cost R90,00 - includes refreshments
Sunday 18th July
Introduction to Buddhist Meditation. Simple techniques for a daily practice.
with Claudia Steinert
10:00am to 13:30pm
If we train our mind to become peaceful, we will be happy all the time, even in the most adverse conditions. But if our mind is not peaceful, even if we have the most pleasant external conditions, we will not be happy. Therefore it is important to train our mind, and this training is done through the practice of meditation.
This course is ideal for beginners, but also suitable for more advanced meditators who wish to develop a strong and stable daily practice. There will be plenty of time to practice, and opportunities for questions afterwards.
Cost: R100.00 (very special introductory offer) – includes a light lunch and refreshments.
