Controlling the Mind
What is true self control and how can we attain it? In the context of our inner environment, our mind, true control relates to the ability to direct our mind towards beneficial or virtuous ways of thinking and feeling. Concentration practice, or meditation, is designed to unleash this inner potential of control, not through forceful means but through inspirational mental training that creates inner wealth.
At this course we will learn to enjoy the inner training of meditation on virtue and peace and receive some practical advice on how we can practise these virtues in our daily life. Control in this context means the freedom of choosing how we want to feel by dealing with negativity as it arises, abandonment of non-virtue, and encouraging positivity or virtue through meditation training. Through this we will drastically reduce our stress and tension, and inspire ourselves and others to follow an inner path to a happy life.
About the Teacher
The course will be led by Buddhist monk Kelsang Phuntsog, who is now living in Johannesburg and has been teaching meditation in Durban on the North Coast for many years. He shows a humble, kind example as a practitioner. His clear explanations of Buddha’s teachings give us the confidence to practise them in our daily life
