The purpose of meditation is to cultivate states of mind that are conducive to peace and well-being, and to eradicate those that aren’t. How do we do this? First, we must learn how to quiet our mind. On this course you will learn how to practise breathing meditation and integrate the inner peace into our daily life. The key skill we are looking to cultivate is deep levels of concentration and focus through our meditation practice. Normally, our mind likes to travel all over the place (perhaps you’ve noticed?), in meditation we want to shift from this distracted mind to one that is centred, single-focused and at peace. By taking the time to follow our breathing and grow our mindfulness, we make our own breath the only object of concentration and begin to break free from our scattered mind, allowing us to feel a sense of relaxation and inner peace.
