What distinguishes us from others is that all our Courses and Retreats are taught by qualified teachers, who teach in accordance with the Kadampa tradition, which  teachings can be traced back all the way to Buddha Shakyamuni. Without qualified meditation teachers guiding and inspiring us we have no opportunity to meet Buddhas teachings or learn to integrate them into our busy modern lives.

Abiding at the Heart - Saturday, 24th August

At this special weekend event, Gen Kelsang Mila, will share inspiring teachings and meditations from this years International Summer Festival, held at Manjushri in the UK.

 

The teachings will be focusing on Buddha’s teachings on Mahamudra. The Mahamudra meditations taught by Buddha are simple yet powerful methods for accessing the space-like clarity of our mind. These techniques help us to maintain the peace and bliss of a pure mind, even in the face of life’s ordinary worries and frustrations.

 

In these teachings you will receive step by step instructions on how to meditate on the pure nature of your mind and how to train in these meditations to gain a deep sense of inner peace and bliss.

 

This Retreat will help give an opportunity to those who couldn’t travel to the international festival to connect to the life changing experience of that event!

Everyone is welcome to this retreat, no prior experience of meditation needed.

Parenting _ Patience

Parenting & Patience - Saturday, 31st August

Is it possible to be confident and relaxed as a parent instead of feeling stressed, overwhelmed and second guessing yourself all the time? Learning to apply simple meditation techniques, and using mindfulness, we can experience a place of calm inside even when our family life is busy, difficult or completely chaotic. Practically, if we develop a peaceful mind and our inner wisdom, this will give us the skill and confidence that we need to bring harmony, and happiness to our family life.

 

In this course Laurie will use both her own experience as a parent and Buddha’s time-tested teachings to share insights that you can use right now to help yourself and your family be healthy and positive. These classes will include a talk, guided meditations and time for discussion. Everyone Welcome.

Healing Through Emptiness

Healing Through Emptiness: How Meditating on Emptiness Solves all our Problems (Meditation Retreat) - Saturday, 7th September

Buddha taught that the best way to develop inner peace and happiness is to meditate on the profound wisdom of emptiness. In this Meditation Retreat you will be introduced to the basic concept of emptiness and how meditating on it we can heal our minds from mental suffering and physical pain. This meditation retreat is for everybody and the meditations on emptiness will be taught step by step, no prior experience needed.

Gaining Spiritual Protection: Introduction to Heart Jewel Prayers (Course and Prayer Retreat) - Saturday, 21th September

The Heart Jewel practice is the very essence of the New Kadampa Tradition of Mahayana Buddhism. If we practice Heart Jewel regularly and sincerely, we will reap a rich harvest of pure Dharma realizations or insights, that will bring great meaning to our life.                         

By relying upon this practice, we can purify negativity, accumulate merit, and receive Buddha’s powerful blessings. In this way, we will naturally accomplish all the realizations of the stages of the path of Sutra and Tantra and eventually attain the supreme happiness of full enlightenment. 

The Science of Happiness

The Science of Happiness - Saturday, 28th September

Buddha explained that through developing the capacity of our minds we can immensely increase our happiness. In this weekend course you will learn to identify the causes of happiness and suffering from within, and feel empowered to make wisdom and joy your daily experience. This engaging, practical talk will be a great introduction for those who are new to meditation and modern Buddhist teachings.

The function of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful. Usually we find it difficult to control our mind. It seems as if our mind is like a balloon in the wind – blown here and there by external circumstances. By training in meditation, we create an inner space and clarity that enables us to control our mind regardless of the external circumstances. Gradually we will develop a balanced mind that is happy all the time.

On this course we will explore how to meditate, how to develop a daily meditation practice and how to integrate this into your daily life.

Freedom from Suffering: Medicine Buddha Healing Body & Mind (Chanted Prayer Retreat) - Saturday, 19th October

Medicine Buddha is a Buddha Doctor whose function is to release living beings from outer and inner sickness by bestowing blessings upon them. By relying upon Medicine Buddha sincerely, we can be cured of heavy physical and mental disease, find release from the internal pain of the three poisons – attachment, anger and ignorance – and receive protection from many other dangers and obstacles.

Since beginningless time, we have experienced the pain of the three poisons and all the sufferings to which they give rise. Now, by relying upon this Buddha Doctor through the Medicine Buddha Sadhana, we can be released from this pain forever.

On this course we will explore special ways of thinking and meditations that heal the mind of the source of these problems.
