Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha are known as the Three Jewels. When we go for refuge/protection to the Three Jewels we enter into the Buddhist family. Buddha is the source of all Dharma teachings and blessings, Dharma is the realization of Buddha’s teachings, and Sangha are pure Dharma practitioners who help us with our spiritual practice.
We know from experience that the external everyday things – our jobs, relationships, possessions, status, etc. – cannot give us real security or happiness. All of these things are fleeting. In the end, they vanish completely. By going for refuge to the Three Jewels we establish protection for our mind and heart, thereby experiencing freedom and joy in the present moment and in the future.
In this Retreat, Buddhist nun, Gen Kelsang Mila will give teachings and guide meditations to deepen your understanding of what it means to Go for Refuge, the benefits of Refuge and how to do this formally in meditation and in your daily life, giving examples of living life the Buddhist way.
We would love to see you.
We will be using the prayer booklet Essence of Good Fortune which is available to borrow from the Meditation room during the Retreat or in our shop to purchase if you wish.
